About Bit & Basil

Growing Worlds, One Pixel at a Time

Hey there! I’m Lyndsay – a graphic designer turned game dev, currently flying solo under the Bit & Basil banner. I started this studio to explore cozy, creative projects that mix pixels, play, and personality.

Our Roots

Founded by a lifelong gamer and designer, Bit & Basil is all about building experiences that are fun, functional, and a little bit whimsical.

Sprouting Ideas

Whether it's a game, a UI concept, or something in between, each Bit & Basil project blends design, heart, and a touch of experimentation.

Natural Growth

Every project starts as a small seed - shaped by cozy vibes, a bit of nostalgia, and a DIY mindset that gives it space to grow into something fun and unique.

Nurtured with Care

Bit & Basil is a proudly Indigenous-owned solo studio, rooted in empathy, creativity, and community with every project grown from the ground up.

The Gauntlet of Consequence

Created for the Week Sauce April 2025 Game Jam with the theme “The Illusion of Choice”, this project takes players on a humorous and slightly unhinged journey full of seemingly meaningful decisions. Built in Unity using C# and primarily premade assets, this solo project was a chance to play around with unexpected storytelling and design choices.

Kanien’kéha Quest

Created for a Simulation Design course, Kanien’kéha Quest is a narrative-driven educational game designed to introduce players aged 8-12 to basic Mohawk (Kanien’kéha) vocabulary through immersive dialogue and interactive storytelling. Built in Unity with C# and using a mix of custom and premade assets, this solo project weaves language learning into storytelling, celebrating Indigenous culture with care and creativity.

Relic Rush

Relic Rush is a lighthearted, multiplayer dungeon game developed solo in Unreal Engine  5 for a class on multiplayer game development. Players take on classic adventurer roles – Barbarian, Wizard, Rogue, or Knight, assigned at random at the start of the game – and race through a handcrafted maze to collect coins and gems while avoiding traps like webs, spikes, and teleporters. Designed using KayKit assets, the game emphasizes quick thinking, exploration, and just a hint of chaos, with the winner crowned based on points earned before time runs out.
